Mystique

Introduction:

Team Mystique is a CMU ETC project team that aims to create an interactive VR story-telling experience. Using Oculus VR to evoke precise emotions through stories and to provide the user with a completely new immersive storytelling experience, creating an aura of affinity that makes them feel stronger than they have ever felt before, making them feel it's not just a story, it is a memory. 


Problem Statement: 
An Interactive VR storytelling experience aimed at evoking precise emotions in the user.

 

Approach: 
Exploring various VR story-telling experiences and how to make one that is immersive and interactive.

Vue

Introduction:

Team Vue is a CMU ETC project team that aims to create a dynamic mobile gaming application for the 21st century. For centuries, people have always loved watching spectacles and major sports events, but as times and trends change, it has become apparent that millenials are more interested in participating as a viewer. We looking to explore how to use emerging technologies and innovative mechanics to make the viewing experience more engaging and fill a specific emotional need. 


Problem Statement: 
An engaging mobile gaming application which can be live-streamed and be interactive for the viewers.

 

Approach: 
Exploring live-streaming of games, making them mobile-compatible and innovative ways of letting viewers interact with the players.

Cracked

Introduction:
A game made using Makey Makey (http://www.makeymakey.com). The game involves the player to search for egg-like things from a sandbox. The story is about a bird who lost it's eggs and the player is trying to comfort the bird by giving it egg-like things.


Problem Statement: 
A compelling story

 

Approach: 
An approach that involves a less-explored area of study where one tries to understand the thought-process of a bird who has lost something so precious.

Fighting Nemo

Introduction:
A game made on Jam O Drum. As a part of Building Virtual Worlds, this game was made in 1 week by a team of 5 people with varied backgrounds.  The game involves 4 players (fishes) trying to eat each other as well as other fishes in order to grow bigger... but wait!! oh! Oh! there are enemy fishes that eat you too!! oh my god! There are fish bones that can make you weaker.


Problem Statement: 
The feeling of fun

 

Approach: 
An imaginative world where the player is a fish and has the power to become bigger when other fishes are eaten and dies when bigger ones eat them.

Introduction:
A game made on Microsoft Kinect. As a part of Building Virtual Worlds, this game was made in 2 weeks by a team of 4 people with varied backgrounds.  The game involves completing circuits in order to proceed to further levels.
   
Problem Statement: 
The feeling of freedom

 

Approach: 
An imaginative world where the player is has a power to complete circuits by touching the plugs correctly!
